SO, okay: what even is a zine?
A zine is a small self-published collection of original (or unoriginal) texts and images.
For a basic zine, all you need is:
Paper
Scissors
Writing utensils
...but you can also use:
Markers
Glitter glue
Washi tape
Old magazines
Paint
Yarn
Stickers
Whatever else your heart desires
So you want to MAKE a zine, but you don’t know what the subject is? Well, you can make zines about anything!
Fanzines
Cooking zines
Comic zines
Art zines
Poetry zines
Personal zines
Step 1
Fold your paper in half. And then into quarters. And then into eighths.
Step 2
Open your paper so that it is folded in half. Cut halfway across the middle from the fold. When you open your paper it should have a slit in the middle.
Step 3
Fold your paper lengthwise (along the crease that has the slit). Hold the paper at either end, then push the ends in toward each other. The sections should fold into each other to form an eight-page booklet.
Step 4
Cut through the folds at the top of the pages and staple the zine across the spine! Now you have an 8 page zine, go forth and create! ✉
